About the Parc-Ex Canada Day Celebration

The first Parc-Ex Canada Day Celebration (PEXCDC) in 2004 came about through the vision and hard work of a small group of National Bangladeshi-Canadian Council (NBCC) volunteers. The key ideas were to have a day that Parc-Ex multicultural residents could enjoy, this historical event to build a stronger community through a popular celebration. We knew the Parc-Ex had never been celebrate this most important heritage part of our great true strong Canadian history for our generations to continue with fun and celebration, so we were just continuing a longstanding tradition for great multicultural communities in the district of Parc-Extension.

With the support of Heritage Canada, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada ( IRCC) and borough Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension in the city of Montreal municipality and many more local community and business organization. We set “Canada Day Stage” with fun, family oriented events. And we were fortunate enough to get it right almost from the beginning — our events began in the the Family intarection with Canada flag, face tattoo; Free BBQ ; Childrens art and quiz compitition; Watermelon eating race; the kids’ games and Canada Day theme Cake; and Dance, Music and more…

While there have been highlights over the years, the real highlight is the safe, secure and joyous event we’ve created for the growing numbers of residents and friends — now estimated at 5,000 to 7,000 people — who come each July 1st. The Clebration Team is strong and vibrant and the event remains a largely volunteer-run operation but also benefits from significant support from Provigo super store and our sponsors.

We look forward to continue fabulous year of offering a warm welcome to those celebrating Canada Day on the July 1, of each year.

Canada Day in Parc-Ex brings the best celebration to our community!

Fête du Canada Day Celebration-Parc-Ex. is very excited for every year’s edition of Rendezvous O Canada Festival in Parc-Ex.  We are a partnership of local Community Associations, Business members and Youth Groups that are dedicated and committed to bringing the best Canada Day in Parc-Extension celebration to our community at Place de la Gare Jean Talon Parc.

Our event could not take place without the support of grants from Heritage Canada and the City of Montreal borough Villeary-Saint Michel-Parc-Extension (VSMPE), Marche Provigo, Loisirs du Parc and of course our 50+ volunteers that come out each and every year.

Our Kidz Zone has a free Activity Area with interactive games for children of all ages and a Kidz Zone Stage with many young child friendly acts.  Our daylong celebration held from July 1 has lots of games, food and amusement.

An essential portion of our activities incorporates multi-cultural expression in song and dance, language and dress, bringing together the various ethnic and religious persuasions represented in our diverse community on our Multi-Cultural Stage.  As our community in Parc-Extension and neighbour living with so much more diverse culturally that one can imagine. So we want to bring in even more multi-cultural activities, to partner with this we will be offering cuisines from the many different cultures in our future program.

On our Main Stage, before our main acts perform, we will have a parade of Territorial, Provincial and Canadian Flags carried by people from different cultures, the singing of our National Anthem, official remarks from Federal, Provincial and municipal elected officials.

The biggest draw of the festival is the giant theme cake, which is served at the ground starting at 2 p.m. Anywhere from 500 to 1,000 portions are served over the next 30 minutes and anyone in attendance is welcome to try a piece of this traditional Canada Day dessert.

Our master of ceremony duties will be performed in both official languages and where feasible promotion will incorporate both official languages.  The day ends with spectacular fireworks choreographed to music which always amazes people of all ages.

15 year of celebration
