151st Canada Day Celebration-Parc-Ex-2018
Despite heat warning, hundreds came out for Parc-Ex 151st Canada Day - 2018 with barbecue!

Despite heat warning, hundreds came out for Parc-Ex Canada Day Celebration. While some neighbourhoods decided to cancel their festivities, Parc-exers gathered on Gare Jean-Talon Parc as planned.
It’s Canada’s biggest party with multicultural Canadian communities in Parc-Extension, Montreal. Thousands of people attended with their children dressed in red and white come on the lawns of the Place de Jean-Talon Station in front of Provigo, a super market near station Parc, on Sunday July 1st to celebrate the 151st Canada Day.
Flags of Canada floated as the local community sang the Canadian national anthem with the presence of many children.
For the 15th time organized by the National Council of Bangladeshi-Canadians (NBCC), Canada Day at Gare de la Jean Talon Parc on Parc station began around noon until 10 pm. There was music with free barbecue and a 6-foot Canada Day themed cake provided and made by Provigo’s bakers. The cake was cut by Mr. Monir Hossain, Canada Day Celebration at Parc-Ex Coordinator, Mr. George S. Guzmas, Editor-in-Chief of Parc-Extension Nouvelles, Mr. Luc Cousineau, Vice President, Investment and Wealth Advisor ( RBC), as well as volunteers, seniors and children who were present at the event.
Day start with a citizenship ceremony was held in collaboration with Immigration, Refugees and Citizens Canada. 51 new citizens from different countries had the chance to be sworn in on Canada Day. The ceremony was presided by Mr. John Walsh, Member of the Order of Canada. The President of the Ceremony was accompanied by Mrs. Kettley Guerrier, Clerk of the Ceremony, and Miss Samiha Hossain, Master of the Ceremony.
Special guests were invited to welcome and congratulate new citizens. Speeches were delivered by Mr. Emmanuel Dubourg, Member of Parliament for Bourassa and Representative of the Honorable Ahmed D. Hussen, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada; Mrs. Giuliana Fumagalli, Mayor of the Borough of Villeray – Saint-Michel – Parc-Extension; Mr. Monir Hossain, President of the National Bangladeshi-Canadian Council (NBCC). Mr. George S. Guzmas, editor of Parc-Extension Nouvelles, was a special guest of the ceremony.
Citizenship candidates were sworn in and the guests reaffirmed their rights in both French and English and the new Canadians received their certificates, gifts and congratulations from the dignitaries and special guests of the event. Once the speeches were made, the bilingual national anthem was performed by Miss Ocean Go and the students of the Sargam Academy of Music.
It is a chance for us to show our pride and the origins of Canadian history to our generation of Canadians and the bridge link from the present to the future to unite multicultural and Canadian communities.
The performances were South Asian singing and dancing by Sargam Music School students and Greek dancing by the Syrtaki Troupe. There was bhangra dance and Bangladeshi dance by Priti Anthonika and Sriti Alexsin. Orkestar Kriminal, a local music band, delivered a performance full of songs from several languages. Young participants were “happy to celebrate Canada Day” with their friends and families, creating fun memories.
Monir Hossain, President of NBCC and Coordinator of Canada Day Celebration at Parc-Ex – 2018, told the audience, “The event wants to integrate Canadian and multicultural communities into Canada’s social and cultural systems. “
He also said that “it is for children” and indeed, children were the central force of the community as they have a role in the future as Canadian citizens. parents who came to the celebration for the first time said it was “new and exciting” and parents were “happy country”.
